ABOUT THE PROGRAM

What is JO Volleyball?

JO Volleyball is an opportunity for girls who are seriously interested in improving their volleyball skills through teamwork and practice.  JO Volleyball players will practice individual skills as well as learn about the team dynamics of volleyball.  Teams will participate in weekend tournaments to further improve their game. While JO teams are intended to be fun, that is not our main goal.  We want to better ourselves as a program, so playing time is not a guarantee for all.  Playing time is a coaching decision. If your daughter is not satisfied with the amount she is playing it is HER responsibility to ask the coach what skills she needs to work on to see more playing time.

Who is JO Volleyball for?

JO Volleyball is for those players who are serious about becoming the best volleyball player they can be.  JO players should have background knowledge of the game of volleyball and have basic, fundamental skills in the game (with the exception of 12U players).

How much time will I need to commit?

Players should expect to practice at least twice a week, for a total of at least 3 hours a week, starting the beginning of December. Practice times will be set by each individual coach based on the team’s needs and team schedules. 12U-14U team will participate in 5 tournaments, and 16U-18U will participate in 6-7 tournaments throughout the season. These will be held on Saturdays and/or Sundays, between January and April.  Specific schedules will be determined closer to the start of the season.  It is important that players are committed to putting in the time required, so please consider your ability to commit the time before signing up for JO.  If you sign up to play, you are expected to be at all practices and tournaments.
